Acacia Hill School

Acacia Hill School is a specialised school setting catering for students with special needs in Central Australia. It is one of three schools providing specialised programs for students with high support needs in the Northern Territory. Students range in age from three and a half to twenty years and come from a vast area reaching from the Barkly Region in the north to the Pitjantjatjara Homelands in the south. Acacia Hill School offers an inclusive and intensive education for children of pre-school, primary and secondary age; and caters for students with a range of intellectual, physical, sensory, behavioural, emotional and multiple disabilities. The school offers a Preschool and Early Childhood Unit, Primary classes, a Middle Years sub school, a Senior sub school and a Transition to Work unit. All students’ needs are catered for through their Educational Adjustment and Health Care Management Plans. These plans are devised in consultation with families, carers, health professionals and school staff. Acacia Hill School’s curriculum focuses on the personal independence and achievements of students and addresses the current and future needs and outcomes of students across the home, school and community environment.
